This title might sound unusual, but the Bible makes it clear — good people don’t go to heaven. In Mark 10:18, Jesus said, “No one is good except God alone.”
Similarly, Paul quotes Psalm 14: “There is no righteous person, not even one; there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks out God; they have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, there is not even one.”
Since no one is truly good, it follows that there are no genuinely good people on earth who can enter heaven by their own merit. Salvation is a gift from God, not a reward for human effort. Understanding why good people don’t go to heaven helps us see our need for God’s grace.

Satan, “the father of lies,” tries to deceive, but your free will remains. The critical choice before you is this: will you trust in what God said Jesus accomplished on the cross, or will you rely on your own goodness and risk eternal separation?
Even though good people don’t go to heaven by their own effort, God wants trust in Him. Salvation is not about effort — it’s about faith.

Why don’t good people go to heaven? Because heaven is a gift of God, not a reward for human effort. Sin prevents even the “good” from entering. But God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, makes salvation possible. Trust Him today, and you will have peace with God — eternal life in heaven, not earned, but freely given.

In love, it levels us all—sinners in need of grace—and then lifts our eyes to the cross where forgiveness is offered freely to any who repent and believe.
